Maria Shehata
Maria Shehata is a multi-award-winning Egyptian-American comedian, based in London.
Her broadcast work includes Comedy Central’s Comedy Central Live 2023 and The Watch List, Showtime’s Bridging the Gap, Comic Relief’s viral Modern Dating Horror Stories, BBC’s Period Dramas and Dave Channel’s Comedy Guide to Life. Her writing has been featured in “Modern Love” in the New York Times.
Winner of Best Comedy Screenplay at Best Script Awards, Best Comedy at the Miami Web Fest, and Best Comedian at the Hollywood Festival of New Cinema, Maria was shortlisted as Top Five Best New Acts of the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and named Pick of the Fringe at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Maria has supported Bill Burr at the 15,000 seat Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on his UK tour and performed at Latitude Festival.
Her writing has been published in Funny Women, British Comedy Guide, and The New York Times. She is co-host of the weekly comedy podcast 2 Non Doctors.
